PUMP MODEL

PUMP MODEL

PUMP MODEL

(OP)
Hey guys,

Are there any AODD pump models that can comply to a maximum suction pressure of 150psig (this is due the pump is designed to a design to the maximum pressure of the source vessel. Some pump vendor can only limit there max suction pressure to 5 psig.

Also, are there any options to make this pump good for a specified max suction pressure of 150psig?

Thanks!

RE: PUMP MODEL

I believe the Wilden pump will do that. Sandpiper may have a model. You are definitely pushing the limits of the technology. These pumps are usually in filter press applications.

RE: PUMP MODEL

The problem is that these pumps are designed so that the diaphragm draws fluid into the pump by being driven by the second diaphragm, which is discharging fluid and is driven by air pressure. So the pressure on the fluid side of the diaphragm is always lower than on the air side. A suction pressure much above ambient will cause the diaphragm curvature to invert on every stroke when the fluid pressure exceeds air pressure. This will quickly lead to failure of the diaphragms.

You could possibly put a back pressure regulator on the pump so the discharge air pressure from the pump is always higher than the suction pressure. There should be no danger of over-pressuring any part of the pump as long as the input air pressure is within the pump's pressure rating. However, the energy efficiency of the pump will be dreadful.

RE: PUMP MODEL

"Pumps in service with a positive suction head are most efficient when inlet pressure is limited to 0.5–0.7 bar (7–10 psig). Premature diaphragm failure may occur if positive suction is 0.7 bar (10 psig) and higher."

Suction Lift ....................... 2.77 m Dry (9.1')
....................................8.99 m Wet (29.5')
