Surge protection of secondary system in HV substations

Surge protection of secondary system in HV substations

Surge protection of secondary system in HV substations

(OP)
Hello,

Recently, one of 154kV transformer protectio IEDs in our company's HV substation was damaged by lightning surge.
Two DO boards of IED were damaged (Several TNRs(varistor)damaged, some PCB patterns were crushed)

Q1. Do you have any technical standards for low voltage surge protection for HV substation ?
(ex. I found that
In South Africa, there is NRS 042 (GUIDE FOR THE PROTECTION OF ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT AGAINST DAMAGING TRANSIENTS)
NRS 086 (ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC) IN ELECTRICITY UTILITY NETWORKS Part 2: Substation design and equipment
installation practices)
Q2. What kind of SPD (Surge Protective Device) specifications are you applying in low voltage protection in HV substation ?
(ex. what SPD spec. for secondary output of substation transformer (23kV/380V) in HV substation(154kV))

Any comments on the subject will be appreciated.
Thank you in advance !!
