Slurry flow

Slurry flow

Slurry flow

(OP)
Hello colleges,
I am working on a slurry transport project using the Edward J.Wasp methode to calculate the pressure drop.
This methode is shown in his book "Solid-Liquid Flow Slurry Pipeline Transportation". There is an example in Chap.7 starting with page 95.
For the Durand equation the fixed data are combined in a factor which gives 6.31. Taking those fixed data my calcs result in 0,695.
Can anybody tell me how this factor is achived?

RE: Slurry flow

Wasp is somewhat antiquated and has been superceded by more technical approaches. Try researching Wilson, Addie and Clift's technical papers. Books such as Slurry Transport Using Centrifugal Pumps Georgia Iron Pumps have seminars on slurry pipeline design.

From memory Durand's work was entirely empirical so the factors were obtained by experiment..

RE: Slurry flow

Look for the Warman slurry pumping data, you will probably need to look under Weir now-a-days, it was one of best.

It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts. (Sherlock Holmes - A Scandal in Bohemia.)
