Pump Selection

Pump Selection

Pump Selection

(OP)
I am looking to buy a new pump for a pressurizing system. We are pressuring a tank to about 600 psi and then venting the pressure. This is cycled every two minutes a couple thousand times about two times a year. The system design as of right now includes actuated valves and a bypass to allow the flow from the Plunger pump to recycle into itself when the pressure is being held in the tank and vented. Also, if the bypass fails to open then the pump will reaches extremely high pressures which is extremely bad in this situation. Any suggestions there?

The specs of the plunger pump right now are 1800 psi, 1725 RPM, 8 GPM all maximums. But its old I cant even see the company or model on the pump. The motor is rated at 1750 RPM, I think 5 hp (hard to read on the motor), 60 hz, three phase, Volts 208/220/440. Again, cannot read any model or company info.

So I wanted to know if there are any different types of pumps better than this plunger pump for this application? low gpm is a must. Max can be about 20

RE: Pump Selection

Telephone your local pump suppler, don't see anything magical or difficult in replacing the existing pump.

RE: Pump Selection

If you post an image somebody may be able to LD the pump.

To prevent the high pressure, you should have a relief valve.

Is the 600 psig pressure vessel protected by a relief valve or rupture disc ?
