using composites for a new product for the fishing MARKET

(OP)
IVE JUST STARTED A NEW COMPANY IN COVENTRY, DESIGNING FISHING CHAIRS AND BEDCHAIRS. THE STANDARD MODELS ARE GOING TO BE MADE FROM ALUMINIUM TUBING. HOWEVER, WE ARE LOOKING TO INTRODUCE A 'TOP END' MARKET PRODUCT THAT COULD USE SOME FORM OF COPOSITE, BUT I HAVE NO IDEAS ON WHAT MATERIALS TO USE, ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Mekon :)

Check out "Principles of Composite Material Mechanics" by Ronald F. Gibson. This book should give you a starting idea on what is available, strengths, and costs to manufacture.

MEKON,

Consider FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) comprised of unsaturated polyester resins and your choice of fiberglass. A reinforced, thermoset product will give you more strength than other options, at a reasonable cost. There are many different resins available. Visit our website at http://www.reichhold.com and click on the PRODUCTS link. From there you can browse our searchable product website by either keyword or market. MARKET works best. You can also contact the COMPOSITES FABRICATORS ASSOCIATION (CFA). Their website is at http://www.cfa-hq.org.
