COLD FORMED STEEL GCP VALUES WITH MONOSLOPE > 30 DEGREES

COLD FORMED STEEL GCP VALUES WITH MONOSLOPE > 30 DEGREES

COLD FORMED STEEL GCP VALUES WITH MONOSLOPE > 30 DEGREES

(OP)
Hi, I have a question regarding pressure coefficients in ASCE 7-05.

The code only denotes for mono-sloped roofs with a slope less than 30 degrees but I have a roof with a mono-slope @ 45 degrees. (enclosed).

Is my only option to use wind loads for open monosloped roofs.

Where am I to get these Gcp values in order to calculate my wind pressures.

Regards

Not sure - perhaps treat it as a wall instead of a roof? There isn't anything in the commentary on it.

RE: COLD FORMED STEEL GCP VALUES WITH MONOSLOPE > 30 DEGREES

Maybe, look at the "trend" between 10 and 30 degrees (at a given effective area) and conservatively extrapolate based on expected behavior. The 3' and 2' zones go away and a majority of the uplift is concentrated along the apex, also as the side zones decrease in width. I would think you could be in the ballpark by:

1. Keeping the same roof zones sizes as the 30 degree chart
2. Double -GCp for zone 3
3. Maybe 1.5 times -GCp for zones 1 and 2 (tough because the lower eaves may see lower uplift at 45 deg)
4. 1.5 to 2 times +GCp for all zones
