Does anyone have any experience using Adapt Post Tensioning? I do not have much experience with PT and I am having a difficult time obtaining a working model. Also, does anyone know of any resources available to help with post tensioning design?

Brad805, thank you. I appreciate your help.

RE: Adapt Post Tensioning

This is what I've got for comprehensive documents. Go forth and PT!

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

RE: Adapt Post Tensioning

I would avoid ADAPT Builder and stick with ADAPT PT. My go-to book is "Post-Tensioned Concrete Principles and Practice" by Bondy and Allred. It is one of the best "textbooks" I have ever seen. It has very valuable tips and common construction pitfalls that can happen. It also includes some details to avoid mistakes in the field.

KootK- thank you for sharing your documents.

Mike20793- I have Adapt Builder 2015. I checked my download link and I don't see anything for Adapt PT. Are these two different programs? Should PT be included with my download of Builder 2015?

RE: Adapt Post Tensioning

Yes, they are separate programs. ADAPT Builder can be glitchy sometimes. We've also had models stall during analysis. There's been a few projects in the last year that we had to contact ADAPT to review our model. RAM Concept is supposedly a lot easier to use. I've only dabbled in it, but it seems easy and intuitive to model in and the results seem consistent with hand calcs.

RE: Adapt Post Tensioning

I second the vote for RAM Concept. Among other things, it's just very fast to build models using it.

RE: Adapt Post Tensioning

braves0six,

What specifically are you trying to model?

UNbonded to ACI-318?

PT flat slab with banded & uniform tendons?

PT beam-and-slab for a parking structure?

PT for a podium. The podium is two stories high with 3 levels of apartments on top of the structure.
