Wind Load for Parapet above roof of high rise building

Wind Load for Parapet above roof of high rise building

Wind Load for Parapet above roof of high rise building

(OP)
Which diagram of the Commentaries to the National Building Code of Canada should be used to calculate the wind load on parapet above roof of high rise building? Should it be the diagram for high buildings and treat the windward and leeward surface of the parapet like the windward and leeward surfaces of the building (for pressure and suction respectively) and add the two together? And if so, what height should the Ce exposure coefficient be based on for the suction surface (the height to the parapet or the mid-height of the building)?

Or should the diagram for plates, walls and billboards on grade (Cf=1.2) be used? And if so, what should Ce be based on ... I would expect then it would be based on the height to the parapet.

(Sorry I don't have the NBC diagram numbers, as I don't have the latest NBC here at home, but will be in office later today).

RE: Wind Load for Parapet above roof of high rise building

How tall is the building? It might fall into the scope of dynamic analysis (<60m as of 2010).

These are from my 2010 commentaries guide:

FigI-10 is probably of no use, but check to see if you fall under the constraints in Note(2). It would be kind of Mickey Mouse to apply this though.

Depending on your parapet hight, FigI-15 is probably your best bet, take a look at notes (5)&(6)
