ASME IV PSV Sizing

ASME IV PSV Sizing

ASME IV PSV Sizing

(OP)
We are looking at sizing a PSV in Sec IV. The boiler is a heating boiler at 160 psi/250F with glycol/water. Most of my PSV Sizing experience has been in Sec VIII service.

HG-400.1 and App B give quite clear direction on how to determine a steam boiler's capacity. HG-400.2 does not give me much info on how to approach a liquid PSV. I know that liquid PSV capacities are rated on BTU/hr. Is it as simple as taking the energy input compared at the nozzle inlet/outlet? (i.e. the PSV is sized based on what energy the burner puts into the piping?)
