Does anyone have any information in regards to properties for 18" dia shc 40 pipe.... or pipes around this size? Trying to design a large monopole sign and the mfr would like to use this type of steel section. I have information on a round HSS 18x1/2", it appears of if the 18" sch 40 pipe is similar wall thickness, but I am not entirely sure.

That's where I ended up.... just not sure if that is correct I need to be able to calculated Sx Zx etc (easy enough)..... I also need to know how to calculate C (should be easy)..... looking into that now.

Well C=J/radius.... easy enough.... Now I just need to know if this is the pipe that I am going to get if I spec a 18"dia sch 40 pipe.

SlideRuleEra,

Saw that already, also noticed that what you referenced is PVC pipe which appears to be the same thickness as the steel pipe hence the initial question (not really sure what I would be getting). I can spec it out on the drawings but I don't want to go out onsite and verify what I have specified is what was provided.

RE: Pipe Properties

Can you try and call someone from a distribution or manufacturing plant to see if the sizes you are wanting to specify match whats actually available?

RE: Pipe Properties

My little booklet from our fabricator seems to be in agreement with the links that SRE posted.
