API X65 filler metal selection.

API X65 filler metal selection.

API X65 filler metal selection.

(OP)
Good day.
I was wondering if y'all can help me by giving me some information on a FCAW filler metal for API X65. I was wondering if E71T-1 would be sufficient or would it be better to run E71T-1 for root and hot pass and the run E80T-1. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

RE: API X65 filler metal selection.

please check the material tensile and yield strength and compare it to choices of filler wire you wish to use. if above the requirements of strength then it is 1 factor of consideration to use.

Others will be other mechanical strength and mostly is financial coast impact of selection. Check website of welding manufactures like, esab, lincoln, geka, & others..... they there table for corresponding materials

RE: API X65 filler metal selection.

I have qualified procedures with E70X-XX weld filler metals but prefer E80X-XX to assure meeting the tensile properties.
