NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

(OP)
Is there a way to temporarily disable the decals applied to a model in Ray Traced Studio? I don't want to delete the decals from the model/assembly because they have been carefully positioned. Is there a rendering setting that controls the display of the decals maybe?

RE: NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

I suspect not, particularly if you still want to see the rest of the model fully rendered. Of course, you could simply extract faces from your model and place the decals on them instead of the actual faces of the model then you could simply hide/suppress these extracted faces which will take the decals with them.

OK thanks John...

RE: NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

John, Do Decals use external image files when they have been created, i.e if I move the part to a location where my load options doesn't find the image, will the Decal still render ?
I remember that somewhere back in time , materials with mapped images had this characteristic.

Regards,
Tomas

RE: NX 10 Ray Traced Studio - disable decals

Tomas,

NX 10 embeds the Decal image data directly within the part files.
