It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.

PAN = A prefix used before a radio transmission to indicate that the message is urgent.
EAXMPLE:
"PAN, PAN, PAN... aircraft XYZ has an urgent weather situation: need heading guidance to vector around storm front."
NOTE.
"MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY..." is a universal prefix used in radio transmission to indicate that a genuine emergency situation exists.
