Discard changes and reload from disc

Discard changes and reload from disc

Hi Folks,

[V5 R2014]

I'm working in a large assembly and I've made a bunch of changes to a sub-component to test out a theory. The component is used in a number of places in the assembly. The theory didn't work and now I want to discard the changes I made and reload the component from disc. How do I do that without closing and reopening the whole assembly?

Many thanks,

Dave

RE: Discard changes and reload from disc

Excuses I speak very little English , I use an automatic translator .
For your problem, you must select the top assembly :

Then the screen you tip your play and you select (in french) Edit> Components> Replace Component :

In the next dialog you select "yes" and you valid OK.

Result , the piece has been replaced in all open assemblies in CATIA:

Hoping to have helped you

RE: Discard changes and reload from disc

another way:
1. Close the Assembly window and any other windows of parts you're done with
2. Run the CLEAR HISTORY command (find it in View + Command List)
3. Open the Assembly

Hi,

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply - I was dragged off CAD for a few days so did not manage to test out the advice above.

jackk - Thanks for this but it doesn't help as I have actually changed a bunch of components, I'm not ready to save any of them yet and only want to revert one of them. This method just seems to revert the whole assembly which is not surgical enough for my means.

CAD00 - This works when replacing a component with a different component but when I try to do as you describe and revert back to the component stored on disc I get the following:

Operation failed!!
<Path\Partname> cannot be loaded.
A file with the same identification already exists in session.
Remove this file from session to be able to preform operation.

There doesn't seem to be a way to remove a file from session. From my previous experience of alternative CAD packages deactivating a component then allows it to be removed from session using commands similar to Clear History but not in Catia.
