(OP)
Can anyone refer me to a paper that explains the "halo effect" or the the "ring effect" whereby a rebar partially embedded in old chloride contaminated concrete, and partially embedded in new uncontaminated repair concrete, will undergo an accelerated corrosion rate of the portion of the rebar in the chloride contaminated concrete, the portion of the bar in the new concrete acting as the cathode driving the corrosion of the portion of the bar in the old concrete acting as the anode in a galvanic cell? I am trying to explain it to someone and it would help if I can send him some literature on it.

RE: rebar corroion

ajk1...you just explained it!
