Transportation loads

(OP)
Hi there,

I am currently working on a strength calculation for the structural frame of a large mechanical item. I am required to design the frame to Eurocode 3, which I'm not 100% familiar with. I also need to design to a project specification document, which gives me certain sea transportation accelerations that must be used in the calculations. The accelerations that I need to use are -1.7g vertical (including gravity) and 1.4g horizontal. There will be a material factor used in the calculation, but do I also need to apply partial load factors to the accelerations? Would it be normal that if I am given acceleration loads, then these would already be assumed to account for any extra load factor? If I do need to apply an extra load factor, would I need to separate the gravity component out of the vertical acceleration, so that I have a load factor for the permanent gravity, and another load factor for the remaining -0.7g (variable load)? Maybe I am just thinking about this completely wrong?

Thanks
