Teamcenter Item Description

Teamcenter Item Description

Teamcenter Item Description

(OP)
When an Item Description is modified and saved, TC is saving the old description and also the new description. We have some instances where an item description has been modified and saved several times. When you search the item number, the search will only bring up the item with the most recent description. But when you run an impact analysis where used, if the item is used in another item that the description has been modified, it will show the item with as many descriptions that have been saved.

For example...

Item 654321/A is used in item 123456, when I ran an impact analysis on 654321 it brought up the following;

123456/A-BRKT TRAVELER CC
123456/A-BRKT TRAVELER CC WLDMT
123456/A-BRKT TRAVELER CC WLDMT NP SERIES CHAIN

I have purged the items with the incorrect descriptions and this has cleaned things up, however I would like to know why TC saves each change and the effect purging the incorrect items will have. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks
