design temperature limits for various metals
(OP)
Hi all,
Can any body guide me on how and where to fine maximum allowable working (Design temperatures) for various metals/materials like carbon steel plates and pipes, SS 300 series plates and pipes and so on.
Also for cast iron materials etc.
does any body have a list for quick reference?
Appreciate your quick response.

RE: design temperature limits for various metals
It is better to have enough ideas for some of them to be wrong, than to be always right by having no ideas at all.
RE: design temperature limits for various metals
If you are just talking about application limits then use reference books, manufacturer data sheets, and other such sources.

RE: design temperature limits for various metals
The advice above is spot-on.
eg: if it's a beam in a walking beam furnace, max service temp = 300C. If it was scale resistance, it'd be higher and dependent upon composition.

Try ASME B16.34
