Visual Editor in NX7.5 will not show Integer type expression

Visual Editor in NX7.5 will not show Integer type expression

Visual Editor in NX7.5 will not show Integer type expression

(OP)
Hi All,

Has anyone come across this situation using Visual Editor?

I have a number of alternate feature variations in the same model file.
The visibility of the each variant is control by using the Suppression By expression.
Whereby each different variant is assigned a number by which an 'If Then Else' statement is applied to the respective suppression(s).

I was experimenting using the Visual Editor as a way of helping others understand this slightly complex model file.

The intent was to create a Sheet for each of the variants.
Then to have the corresponding expression shown to allow control (visibility) of that variant to be 'made active / turned on' by changing the integer value from 0, 1, 2 for each respective variant.

However the Visual Editor, much to my surprise, does not seem to recognise an Integer type expression as being a valid expression (for want of a better description).

Is this something I am not understanding or has anyone else found this also?

Thanks in advance for any/all help and suggestions.

Best Regards

Tetragrammaton :)

Tetragrammaton --

As you might suspect at this point, the Visual Editor is a legacy tool that we've not maintained in quite some time now. (Integer expressions came in around NX 6, as I recall, so at least that long...) The go-forward solution is this space is Product Template Studio (PTS) which is a far more capable tool for doing this kind of user-friendly interface creation for parts or assemblies. PTS is being aggressively enhanced, and you'll see us start to use it in some interesting new areas of NX in upcoming releases. I'd highly recommend taking a look at it. I think you'll like what you find. smile

There's a great introductory course on Learning Advantage, and your sales rep can likely get you a trial license to check it out, if you don't already have access.

Does that help?
