AASHTO Interims

AASHTO Interims

AASHTO Interims

(OP)
The pages can't simply be replaced anymore (for some time now...) and the way AASHTO prints them, they don't line up well with the format. How is everyone organizing the Interims to the LRFD Bridge Design Spec?

Are you making notes in the original and just stating to see the Interims? I'm trying to find a good way to keep it organized and obvious that there's a revision without having to dig through multiple pages.

They are getting way out of control with this code. As much as we pay they should at least make it simple to replace...

RE: AASHTO Interims

I keep the intermission separate from the book and highlight the main text as a reminder. It's not like the old days when the pages were easily replaceable AND interims were few and far between.

RE: AASHTO Interims

I started to put the pink pages next to the original section or as close as possible. I never finished because there were so many pages in the interims and i`ve got better things to do.

Honestly, why in the world do you need interims when you put out a NEW code every TWO years. AASHTO is out of control.

RE: AASHTO Interims

Quote (AASHTO is out of control)

That's an understatement.

As a matter of perspective: The 53 AASHO (6th Edition) is 6" x 9", 328 pages. The 77 AASHTO (12th Edition) is 6x9, 496 pages. The 83' AASHTO (13th Edition) is 8 1/2 x 11, 387 Pages. These editions included the construction specs.

Current LRFD design specs, 7th Ed 1704 pages

Thanks for the suggestions. I like the highlighting idea. I had started to place the new page like OSU said, but that doesn't work so well with all of the sections.

It would be nice if the DOT could keep them in check and lengthen the code cycles.

RE: AASHTO Interims

In our office we cross out the superseded pages with a red pencil, just enough to let us know there is an update to that section. We then insert the new pages into the code where they belong as best we can. Sometimes its a real pain though when the interims are not a direct 1:1 replacement.
