Assembly cut tool showing up in the next assembly

Assembly cut tool showing up in the next assembly

Assembly cut tool showing up in the next assembly

(OP)
Hello all,

I have an assembly with two assembly cuts that trims off material from each end of the part. Hide tool is selected, looks good. However at the next assembly the tools show up in the assembly and the drawing. I did try putting the tools on another layer and hiding the layer, which works for the assembly, but the tools still show in the drawing.

Am I missing something or just stupid? Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,
Al

RE: Assembly cut tool showing up in the next assembly

I've run into similar issues in 8.5 and have had to use a Model Reference Set for the assembly that doesn't include the tool body. However, did you make sure to make your tool layer invisible in the relevant view(s)?

Hi Wayne,

I put the tools on a layer and hid the layer and that layer is turned off in the drawing and the assembly. Is that what you meant?

According to the help file, if the "hide tool" option is turned on, the tool bodies will be removed from the "MODEL" reference set. Use the MODEL reference set in the next level assembly.

I was talking about a command called "Layer Visible in View."

Ok, I will check the reference set and the layer in view option. Good stuff, thanks guys!
