NX9 - Can a Seed File Inherit Customer Defaults?

NX9 - Can a Seed File Inherit Customer Defaults?

NX9 - Can a Seed File Inherit Customer Defaults?

(OP)
I've had to do this before, but I'm wondering if there's and easier way.

I use a .pax file to manage seed files and drawing templates. I set our Customer Defaults to the desired settings. I want my seed files/templates to mirror the settings in the Customer Defaults. Is there an easier way to do this than going through every seed file/template and manually adjusting every setting? Someone, please tell me there is.

Thank You Much,
Dave

RE: NX9 - Can a Seed File Inherit Customer Defaults?

I would also like to know if this is possible (for a slightly convoluted reason).

RE: NX9 - Can a Seed File Inherit Customer Defaults?

is there a way to get the PAX files from your customer? It is just a text file.

RE: NX9 - Can a Seed File Inherit Customer Defaults?

There are two ways to do what you're after.

Not all defaults will be read for an existing template part.
Anything in the Drafting Standards area of the Customer defaults can be.

In the customer defaults, you can set whether the templates or the drafting standard settings are used when starting a new drawing (see image below).

If you already have a drawing created, the the drafting preferences for new items can be loaded from customer defaults (see image below).

The same can be done for any existing items (like views, annotations etc) by selecting the 'Settings Source' when editing the settings for that item.
