How can I find the formulae for maximum moments for a 19" square floor panel supported all 4 sides, and loaded centrally over a 5"x 5" square patch with a 4,000 pound load, for:

a) for all 4 edges restrained, maximum positive and negative moments
b) for all 4 edges rotationally free, maximum positive moment

A long time ago I saw graphs for finding this.

I am checking whether the 2½" slab of an existing waffle slab garage floor will figure if the slab is chipped out and re-poured so that it no longer has rotational edge restraint, and whether welded steel wire mesh in this case would provide sufficient steel area to take the moment.

Roark has formulas for that,

ok, I posted this because I could not find the office copy or Roark...but I now have found it and will look thru it.

You might be better to consider using a 20"x20" steel plate covered with concrete topping rather than rely on such a thin slab to carry a heavy load like that.
