Weird issues with Exploded Assemblies

Weird issues with Exploded Assemblies

Weird issues with Exploded Assemblies

(OP)
I'm new to UG/NX having come from using SolidWorks. I have been using NX 7.5 for 2-3 weeks. Seems somewhat similar to SW. Though I have noticed some issue with Exploded Assemblies.

Issue 1:
I have some parts Suppressed in a Arrangement. When I go to add an Exploded View these components will reappear on the screen - though they are still suppressed. I can not select them on the CAD screen. If I unexplode the assembly the parts disappear.

A solution is to turn them back on - click the check box to hide them from view, and then resuppress them in the arrangement. Any thoughts on why this is happening.

Issue 2:
Another issue with Exploded views - for some reason my constraints on one part are not maintained during explode. So in unexploded the part is rotated out of the way. During explode it rotates 180 degrees. I have arrangement specific constraints for this part. I have tried to add a ton of constraints to try to force the part to stay in position - distance mates to a face are not maintained - the face just rotates and the distance is increased. I tried perpendicular - again doesn't matter. The only thing I can think of is Fixed - though I'm a bit concerned with fixed constraints.

Any thoughts?

RE: Weird issues with Exploded Assemblies

Do not mix arrangements and exploded views. We do not use exploded views. We have arrangements with ignore constraints turned on and move our parts as an "exploded" view in an arrangement. This does not answer your question but maybe another way of thinking about exploded views.
