W14 Gages

W14 Gages

W14 Gages

(OP)
Per the AISC, members W14x145 - W14x730 have a 3 - 7 1/2 - 3 workable gage. Does this indicate the spacing of 4 bolts on the flange? Also, are you required to use 4 bolts? If not, what gage do I use?

Thanks,

RE: W14 Gages

You do not have to use 4 bolts, but it can accommodate them. If you want to use just 2 bolts, you can space them at the 7-1/2" gage, so the bolts straddle the web.
