wind sidewall pressure for metal building for global analysis

wind sidewall pressure for metal building for global analysis

(OP)
do you consider wind sidewall pressure for metal building for global analysis?
I read here before some don't consider sidewall pressure when they run the global analysis.

Can someone explain when is it or it's not necessary to consider wind sidewall pressure for global analysis.

RE: wind sidewall pressure for metal building for global analysis

When you say "global analysis", I assume that you are analyzing the lateral and overturning forces on the entire building structure? If that is the case, why wouldn't you consider the sidewall wind forces? Put another way, I would think that you should consider them in these cases.

I don't do this but probably should. For symmetric buildings like those shown in ASCE, the sidewall pressures cancel out. For real buildings... not so much.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
