Hydrocarbon Dew-Point Analyzer- General Information

Hydrocarbon Dew-Point Analyzer- General Information

(OP)
I am exploring options for a Hydrocarbon Dew-Point Analyzer but cannot find anybody in town who has experience using these. I have a couple of questions for people who have first hand experience.
1) Chilled mirror technology- Is this sensitive to ambient temperature fluctuations?
2) Are these instruments typically heat traced or put in a controlled environment?
3) Has anyone experienced reliability issues using these?
4) Any tips/ advice with using these?

RE: Hydrocarbon Dew-Point Analyzer- General Information

I have quite positive experience with Michell Instruments' Condumax that works on the chilled mirror principle, see: http://www.michell.com/uk/products/condumax-II.htm
I can't remember the installation details but the unit comes in a compact enclosure and it worked with no issues between -20 degC and +35 degC.

They also offer other types of HC dew point analyzers - you may wish to discuss the subject directly with their representatives.

RE: Hydrocarbon Dew-Point Analyzer- General Information

This analyser should not give a false reading of dewpoint when if water dewpoint is higher than HC dewpoint, so water/ other non HC components will have to be removed in the sample preconditioning unit for this analyser if these contaminants are present.

In many cases, you may find the sample preconditioning unit has more kit in it than the analyser itself.
