Confusion regarding area of coverage and sprinkler spacing

Confusion regarding area of coverage and sprinkler spacing

Confusion regarding area of coverage and sprinkler spacing

(OP)
Hi All,
I am a mechanical engineer from Australia, working in Dubai where we US standards. I just moved here few months ago.

I am confused about NFPA 13 8.5.2.1.1 (2015 ed) protection area of coverage

What I want to ask is the areas given in Table 8.6.2.2.1 are they maximum or minimum ?

I am having trouble doing the spacing, I currently have an area which is Ordinary Hazard and I have done spacing as 3.9m x 3.9m, this would give an area of ~15m². Which is more than the 12.1m², would this be ok ?
Since I have not exceeded the maximum spacing limit of 4.6m?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
