11kV Single Core Polymeric Termination Jointing Advice/ Manufacturer Details Urgently Required!

11kV Single Core Polymeric Termination Jointing Advice/ Manufacturer Details Urgently Required!

(OP)
Hi guys,
I recently carried out some intrusive inspections on an air filled piece of Schneider kit and came across what appears to be consequential nick/tear damage to the half lapped tape which covers the length of the primary insulation from the stress cone to the crimped lug connection as shown in the attached photographic link below this post.

The primary insulation is intact & appears undamaged.
I have asked a few industry colleagues who inform me that they have never came across this type of termination before.
My first thoughts are to remove the half lapped tape, prepare the primary insulation once more and retape with a suitable tape.
Can anyone assist with a recommended product for retaping or indeed the original termination manufacturer details?

Any info is deeply appreciated

Kind Regards

Joe

It looks like you have a problem on red phase too. I haven't seen a termination like that before. The tape might not be removable. It could be self amalgamating. Rather than remaking it like for like, when you know it is a defective termination method anyway, why not remake it with a modern heatshrink termination? http://www.cablejoints.co.uk/sub-product-details/h...

Taping the insulated portion of the termination is probably a requirement of the switchgear manufacturer. The switchgear manufacturer probably has instructions for taping in the switchgear instruction manual.
