Thermoelastic analysis in Abaqus
Thermoelastic analysis in Abaqus
(OP)
Hi all,
I'm trying to do a thermoelastic analysis in abaqus. This means that for instance, I want the temperature in a solid to increase as a result of applied stress.
I've been using the "Dynamic, Temp-disp, Explicit" step to no avail. I don't know whether that is the right step for my purpose. I use this step and apply a step load. The wave propagates fine, but the temperature remains unchanged at the initial value of 0 degrees. Either the purpose of the step is something else or I'm using it wrong.
What do you think I should do?
I'd really appreciate your help and comments,
Thanks in advance.

RE: Thermoelastic analysis in Abaqus
There is something like that for inelastic deformation (material property).
Inelastic heat fraction (from the manual): "You must specify the density, the inelastic heat fraction, and the specific heat as part of the material definition for the material in which heat will be generated by plastic dissipation."
What have you made so far? Do you get any warning messages? Maybe the material model would give us a clue.
