NX9 sew to solid body

NX9 sew to solid body

NX9 sew to solid body

(OP)
Hi,
Every once in a while I am having problems with sewing sheets to solid body.
What I have here is a series of sheets, created by studio surfaces, revolves, bounded planes, split sheets, N-sided surfaces and trimmed sheets.
The examine geometry tells me its all fine, and the sew to solid body has worked many times before with this setup. But occasionally I am struggling to sew them to solid body, when I am attempting to use "measure bodies" to find out the volume I get error that says "some of the selected entities are invalid for mass properties".
In the past, I have managed to get around this by sewing the sheets together one by one in stead of all at once. But now it just doesn't work in any way.
- All my tolerances are within 0.01 mm
- No flags or errors were noticed in the creation of the sheets
If anyone could suggest me anything, I would be grateful.
Thanks.

RE: NX9 sew to solid body

Try analysis -> examine geometry and if there is a sheet body You will get the information where are holes. Look at attached picture. I added numbers in order You must follow. When You will get the holes in sheet in place no 5 appear check box. Also when You select in place 2 sheet body, and geometry isn't sheet You won't be able to select it. There is also a function in synchronous modeling to optimize face. To choose it follow this patch insert -> synchronous modeling -> optimize -> optimize face, and select all.

With best regards
Michael

RE: NX9 sew to solid body

See what happens when you increase the tolerance when you do the sew command.
The tolerance you have is really tiny.
Try 0.1 mm and see what happens.
