three wire female connector

three wire female connector

three wire female connector

(OP)
green to green is easy on the cable the remaining two are black and white on the female connector one of the screw is silverish, the other is a little yellowish

where does the black go, and where the white?

i have seen similar questions in other forums

one answer said put this on the hot side which is the hot side if i knew that for sure i would'nt ask you

another answer said the one on the right of the green i shot the one on the the left

thank you

RE: three wire female connector

IN THE USA ONLY, for 115VAC single phase only,
the green or green/yellow wire goes to the green (ground) screw,
the white (neutral) wire goes to the silvery (neutral) screw,
the wire of any other color (hot), usually black,
goes to the goldish/brass/yellow (hot) screw.

If you have difficulty installing the wires neatly, it probably means you're putting the connector on the wrong end of the cable.

If the above is not absolutely crystal clear to you,
PLEASE PAY AN ELECTRICIAN TO DO THE WORK.
It won't take long, and it may save your life.

your answer is clear and thanks but just clarify the connector reads 15 amperes 125 v and we are in the us is this single phase in the garage three connections for single phase?

regards

RE: three wire female connector

In the USA...
HOT
NEUTRAL
SAFETY GROUND

Some of us are old enough to remember the television advertisements for the introduction of the "3-PRONG PLUG".

You should be very careful. Mistakes can have serious consequences.

RE: three wire female connector

Single phase at 115V means one hot wire, and two that are normally 'not very hot' as VE1BLL kindly listed. At the plug and socket interface, the ground terminal is sort of D-shaped, and the hot and neutral terminals are blade shaped and parallel to each other, and the hot terminal is smaller than the neutral.

Before terminating any circuit, shut off the breaker so there are no hot wires.

RE: three wire female connector

If you have to cross the white and black wires to reach the proper terminals, you are on the wrong end of the cable.
