Hi all,

I have googled, binged, asked jeeves and all of his other friends and I cannot find any information on hardness values for Q460 steel. Can anybody help me out?

The listed spec notes the steel is subject to ASTM A6 supplemental requirements. You need to determine if the steel is made to those supplemental requirements and if they affect hardness.

I could look up the supplemental requirements but I'll pass the pleasure back to you.

Thanks for the help.

I don't think the information on that page is really what I'm looking for. It looks to me the harnesses that are achievable by annealing, quenching and tempering processes during manufacture. If you look at the data for S235 for example, the same hardness is achievable, but obviously strength is weaker. http://www.steel-grades.com/Steel-Grades/Carbon-Steel/s235jr.html

I know hardness can be specified when ordering by using different forging techniques. I wondered if there was a standard hardness that should be achieved if not specified when ordering.
