Welding design and closure thickness in a "fully welded three pieces ball valve"

Welding design and closure thickness in a "fully welded three pieces ball valve"

Welding design and closure thickness in a "fully welded three pieces ball valve"

(OP)
Hi,

I have some doubts in a fully welded three pieces ball valve.

1- I have simulated with FEM the welding I need for my valve (I'm talking about the welding between the closure and the body). But I would like to know if there is any Standard which defines the minimun welding thickness. I would also like to know if the welding has to be total penetration or if it is possible to be partial penetratioan as in the picture.

2- How can I calculate the thickness I need in the closure wall (the wall thickness between the closure and the body, see picture)

Thank you.
