Frictional loss on thread

I want to model frictional contact in 3D helical thread in Abaqus. I have made 3d geometry of internal and external thread and meshed. Contact with friction is defined between thread surfaces and applied preload. But how to find the torque requirement for that preload?

RE: Frictional loss on thread

Are you applying a torque or an axial load (to represent preload)? Any eng. book will give you the generic formula relating torque to preload (with in most cases 2 coef of friction as parameters: thread, bolt head)

I am applying preload by displacement Boundary condition. Requirement is to find out the torque required to attain that preload by using contact analysis in Abaqus. Suggest any method to find the torque in Abaqus
