NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

(OP)
In NX 8, if you selected Measure Distance > Projected Distance > Results Display and checked the 'Show Information Window' box, then Apply, it would permanently change your settings so every time you measured the Information Window would display.

We recently switched to NX 8.5 and we can't permanently change the settings to mimic what we were able to do in NX 8.

Any suggestions?

Make sure the option to save "dialog memory" is enabled. Customer defaults -> gateway -> user interface -> general -> save dialog memory between sessions.

@cowski I've tried unchecking and checking and resetting the 'Save Dialog Memory...' I've saved, restarted NX.. nothing I've tried seems to work.

RE: NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

If the save dialog memory option is activated, once you complete a measurement with your desired options (be sure not to hit cancel after the information window pops up - press OK or apply), the same options should be active the next time you use the measure command. I've tried this in both my NX 8 and 8.5 installations and it worked as expected. If it does not work for you, there must be something else in your setup that is preventing it from saving the dialog preferences.

@cowski I've tried the OK and Apply. Still doesn't work for me.

Works for me on NX8.5.3.3

Make sure that the "DialogMemory.dlx" file is being written. The usual location is: C:\Users\{your user name}\AppData\Local\Unigraphics Solutions\NX85

If this file exists and you have read/write access to it, it may be time to call GTAC.

@cowski The .dlx file is in the location you specified, but I am unable to open it. I appreciate your help on this!

RE: NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

It is a text file, you should be able to open it in notepad.

RE: NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

I just had a problem with a dialog memory file myself. I had to delete it and let NX create a new one to clear the problem.

@cowski I'm able to open the file now.

RE: NX 8.5 Measure Distance - Show Information Window permanently

I have this same issue. It is very annoying. If you call GTAC please let us know the result. I find it session dependent and very random to keep the measurement opening up the display list to show dimension.
