Horizontal bend rotated vertically

Horizontal bend rotated vertically

Horizontal bend rotated vertically

(OP)
I found a previous thread on this forum on the topic of horizontal bends rotated vertically, but the links didn't work and the referenced sources weren't clear. A few calculations were mentioned in that thread, but they all differed.

That said, where's/what's a reliable resource for the calculation of a bend angle that will provide a certain horizontal angle and vertical angle both? Also, would most piping contractors be familiar with using bends this way, or would most prefer having a separate horizontal and vertical bend? Thank you!

RE: Horizontal bend rotated vertically

you need to search on the term "compound bend angle" then choose your site. You will then have a bend which is neither of your two angles rotated a certain degree from vertical. Any decent contractor will do this.

You can also usually model this in CAD to make sure you have the right angle. It is pretty basic trigonometry.

Thank you, LittleInch. Sometimes with specific mathematical/scientific topics, it helps to know the right key words to google. About the most legitimate looking site with the formula was the following:

RE: Horizontal bend rotated vertically

There are probably many references for the layout part of your OP and perhaps some more applicable, but I think there are many fabrication formulae in ANSI/AWWA C208 standard Dimensions for Steel Water Pipe Fittings, and also manufacturers suggestions e.g. on pages 17-25thru26 of the file at http://www.american-usa.com/system/assets/346/orig... .
