Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

(OP)
Hi ,

I am using insert plate in foundation , But the insert plate covers the maximum width of plinth in foundation . Can any body let me know how it can be constructed. How the concrete can be poured with inset plate .
Kindly see the drawing for reference .

RE: Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

Put two holes in the plate - one for the concrete in, one for the air out. Both for the vibrators for good coverage.

RE: Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

Depends on the size of the plate. That concrete in hole for pouring and vibrating ought to be at least 6" diameter. There's a pretty good chance they'll wet set the embed on side and maybe you're okay with that. Obviously, regular anchor bolts makes this go away. I imagine that you're doing this for aesthetic reasons however.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.

It is not possible to place such a big holt in the plate , Kindly suggest me an alternate solution

RE: Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

Enlarge the plinth.

Wet set the plate with rebar/studs welded to the bottom.

Means welded to the foundation main rebar ...How to port concrete?

RE: Construction Problem of insert plate in foundation

The wet set plate with welded rebar on the underside would be inserted into the pier after pouring and vibrating. There would be no need to weld the rebar attached to the plate to the main pier rebar. Rather, the embed plate rebar and pier rebar would be assumed to form a non-contact lap splice of sorts (if required).

It is the very fact that wet set bars are installed post vibration and sometimes post initial concrete set that leads some engineers to reject wet set details for important connections. When tested, wet set rebar exhibits reduced development/bond capacity. Perhaps others better versed in this issue can comment further.

What is the reason for not using a standard anchor bolt and base liars assembly? Aesthetics?

Post install it with epoxy. They will forget to put it in anyways.
Or just set bolts in and install the plate afterwards. Embed plates don't get installed well.

When I am working on a problem, I never think about beauty but when I have finished, if the solution is not beautiful, I know it is wrong.

It is not for asthetic purpose this was made for supporting pipes, Pipeas would be directly resting and guideing of the plates.
If i am making a hole in base plate for pouring concrete how big the hole must be .And wheret he hole must be located in base plate.
