Dear Members,
Good day, I want to ask that where it has been mentioned in ASME BPVC codes to follow AWS A 2.4 for the welding symbols on drawing for any stamped vessel

Best Regards
Zain

RE: AWS A 2.4

SyedZainAli, shop drawings are not generally subject to ASME Codes.

Regards,

Mike

then it must be used as good engineering practice to follow welding symbols as per AWS A 2.4

RE: AWS A 2.4

SyedZainAli:
It is “ good engineering practice to follow welding symbols as per AWS”. There is one basic source for these symbols and their intended meanings, AWS codes and standards. AWS probably has as good a handle on welding as anyone in the world, including ASME. Most everyone understands them and how to interpret them and how to use them. Many of us have copies of these basic/standard, AWS standards. Many more specialized codes and standards (like ASME Pressure Vessel Codes, etc.) refer to these more basic standards and codes rather than trying to rewrite them themselves. Why try to reinvent the wheel, except in very special cases? You usually can’t go to far wrong by following these kinds of basic standards for their particular field of expertise.
