PIG LAUNCHER AND RECIEVER

PIG LAUNCHER AND RECIEVER

PIG LAUNCHER AND RECIEVER

(OP)
Dears,

which code and spec to follow PWHT for Pig launcher Materials,

As per ASME B 31.3 for Hydrostatic test pressure what is the equation we have to follow,
I have seen two equation,
Test Pressure = 1.5 design pressure
or
Test pressure = (1.5 x design pressure x allowable stress at test temperature) / Allowable stress at design temperature.

which test pressure we follow as per UG 99

Thanks and Regards

RE: PIG LAUNCHER AND RECIEVER

Pig launchers are for pipelines and therefore not covered by B31.3
See B31.4 or B31.8
B31.4 and B31.8 requirements for pig launchers are not the same.

RE: PIG LAUNCHER AND RECIEVER

I agree, you should not be designing your pig trap as a pressure vessel. This way will lead to thicker wall than the pipeline and increased potential for the pig to get stuck on launch or receipt.
