What is the fatigue detail category for a mild steel (4.6) bolt in a snug tight shear connection? Can you provide a reference?

e.g. AS4100 gives Detail cat 100 for "BOLTS IN SHEAR (8.8/TB BOLTING CATEGORY ONLY)"

Check the AISC standards for bolting used in structural steel connections.

AISC Table A-3.1 Item 2.3 is listed as "Base metal at the net section of other mechanically fastened joints except eye bars and pin plates. The illustration adds (Note: figures are for snug-tightened bolts, rivets, or other mechanical fasteners.) There is nothing in this listing that either specifically permits or excludes a mild steel bolt. Stress Category D

With the exception of Table J3.2 that shows the nominal strength of various fasteners, an ASTM A307 mild steel bolt is not mentioned within the AISC Specification.

I've had a look at AISC and the closest is Tab A-3.1 #8.6 which covers bolts in tension, but I still can't find bolts in shear. Not the base metal, the bolt itself.

Yes, I also suggest you. Firstly, check its AISC standards for exact fasteners and select best category. There are many varieties of bolts. So, you can go through on it and find whatever you want exactly.

I don't actually have ready access to AISC publications. I'm form Australia.
