WPS / PQR

I need some help. My company wrote a WPS /PQR and preformed the coupons to be tested and they all have passed. but the issue I'm having is the thickness range was wrote wrong on the WPS and the PQR. The welder performed the coupon with a 2" S40 and the range thickness says .088 - .216. My customer wants a .226 thickness range. my question is do i need to have a new coupon done and rewrite the WPS / PQR for this range or can i work of this wps /pqr without changes.

RE: WPS / PQR

Hi erichenry

If you qualified on NPS 2 schedule 40 (0.154")you have a qualified thickness range of 0.077" to 0.308" without impacts; 0.154" to 0.308" with impacts (ASME IX QW 403.6).

For your question, you can revise the WPS to indicate 0.088" to 0.226" without requalification. Make sure to update the revision and date on this new document, and indicate that the revision was to clarify the thickness range only.

However, you may want to take advantage of the full thickness range allowed by ASME IX QW 403.6 and QW 451.1.
