ASME BTH-1-2014 3-3.1 sketches gravity axes.
(OP)
While studying the ASME BTH-1-2014 chapter 3-3.1, I cannot understand following sentence:
"When the gravity axes of connecting, axially stressed members do not intersect at one point, provision shall be made for ..."
Please, can somebody make one sketch with intersected gravity axes and one sketch without intersected gravity axes ?

RE: ASME BTH-1-2014 3-3.1 sketches gravity axes.
I think that is the general idea they are getting at, although worded in a not-so-clear way.
Another consideration might be if you had, say, a 4" flat bar and a 4" angle connecting end to end, you could align them so the centerlines would align, but the centers of gravity would then be offset slightly.

The ANSI/AISC 360-10 section J8. tells about "Column bases and bearing on concrete".
Unfortunately, as an new ASME member, I cannot find any forum about this topic at the official ASME site.
