Dears,

Please check the base plate connection in the attachments and advice me if that possible to use this connection with groove weld for flange, and how to check concrete strength in this case?

please advice if there are any recommendation for this connection

RE: Flush base plate

how about an elevation view and what is a neck col?

RE: Flush base plate

My first avenue of attack would be to see if I can make it work as a concentric base plate that fits within the actual base plate. Chances are, column rotation will iron out any gravity load eccentricity that you think you have anyhow.

I wouldn't work this joint too hard. I don't like having portions of my base plate bearing area landing outside of the column reinforcing cage. Increased spall potential in my opinion.

I like to debate structural engineering theory -- a lot. If I challenge you on something, know that I'm doing so because I respect your opinion enough to either change it or adopt it.
