Phase Testing - Westinghouse VCP-W

Phase Testing - Westinghouse VCP-W

Phase Testing - Westinghouse VCP-W

Hi All,

I am looking for advice on phase testing between two Westinghouse VCP-W's. We want to energize the phases between two buses and do a hot stick test to confirm that we do not have any of our phase cables crossed with another phase. The problem is how do I keep the shutters opened on the Westinghouse so the technicians can get their hotsticks inside to perform the test. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

RE: Phase Testing - Westinghouse VCP-W

I use two rubber door stops with a section of small rope attached to each, mainly as a reminder to make sure I take the door stops out when I'm done.

On each side of the cell in the bottom is the ramp mechanism the opens the shutter as the breaker moves into the cell, I usually carefully lift the shutter and insert the door stops in the mechanism to hold the shutters open, using the proper PPE and safety precautions.

Hope that helps, MikeL.

Thanks for the advice, catsereng. We bought them as a back-up but ended up using the manual ground and test device that maintenance felt more comfortable using. Again, thanks for the advice, MikeL!
