Abaqus traction test on cylinder strange displacement

Abaqus traction test on cylinder strange displacement

Abaqus traction test on cylinder strange displacement

(OP)
Hi,

i imported from autocad a solid cylinder with diameter of 2.2 mm and lenght of 100 mm.

i meshed it using the C3D20R elements.
material:

CODE -->

*Material, name=AcciaioElastico
*Density
 7.85e-09,
*Elastic
 2e+06, 0.2

i've applied an traction force on one extreme and fix all displacement on the other.

the problem is that the displacement field is strange.
i don't have only displacements along the extrusion axis but i have also transversal displacements.

the difference between the axial and transversal displacements is only of E-01.
i expected something like E-10 of difference.

is it normal?
i'm using abaqus 6.14

RE: Abaqus traction test on cylinder strange displacement

Its hard to comment without seeing the model.

RE: Abaqus traction test on cylinder strange displacement

hello,

Try to apply only a symmetry (XSYMM U1=UR2=UR3=0) in "encastre" section . Do not bloc u1, u2 and u3

RE: Abaqus traction test on cylinder strange displacement

Forces (not pressure) are applied on the nodes of the face. But the distribution of the nodes on the face is not regular, so higher forces are applied in some region, which leads to a momentum.
