Vee-tail flutter

Vee-tail flutter

Vee-tail flutter

(OP)
Hi. Anyone know any reports or had any experience with Vee-tail flutter characteristics. I'd imagine that it's be worse since the ruddervators can not have a torsionally stiff connection, which has been a requirement for elevators since the 1920's.

RE: Vee-tail flutter

There are a few accident / incident reports on tail flutter in the NTSB database. Please search the database in the database in the web.

RE: Vee-tail flutter

Beechcraft had problems with their V tail Bonanzas ans it was because the stabilizers were unsufficiently stiff . After many accidents they developed a fix , a small bracket to be riveted to the front of the stabs at the intersection of the fuselage with a stiffening AL plate underneath.
The company may have intensive data on that specific problem.
