Hi All,
When modifying a model and for example perhaps a face is replaced to do a trim.
The new trimmed face has a new ID

Further down the model that new face is involved in an existing Offset or Shell that used the previous face... it will not be included in the existing Offset or Shell when updated.
If the Offset or Shell fails an Error message is shown, however, if the Offset or Shell updates and simply doesn't include the new face no error message is shown.
Blends & Chamfers for example will update with the new edges and give you Warning

Thanks in advance for any suggestions or solutions.
Cheers
Ian

RE: No Error Message

Proper usage of selection intent rules will help mitigate the issue. In your stated example, you might try using "tangent faces". Features that use "tangent" or "feature" selection intent rules update more reliably than using "single face" selection (as long as the seed face remains the same). For the seed face, choose the one that you think is least likely to change. If/when the seed face changes, you will get an error message for the feature.

RE: No Error Message

You should get a yellow triangle on the subsequent features, and if you hoover on that triangle NX will state "number of ... has changed".

Also, you can turn ON ( default = off) some options for what should happen when things "happen".
Preferences - Modeling - Update(Tab) - Edit During Update Dialog appears on ...

( If you like these settings, they are controlled bu customer defaults.)

Regards,
Tomas
