Linked Dual Dims

Linked Dual Dims

Linked Dual Dims

(OP)
Hello All,

Anyone have experience with linked dual dims? I'm trying to get

mm [inch] format with max over min limits however the tolerance range is variable so I have it linked to an expression in the model.

NX isn't picking up on the unit difference in the default dual dim dialog. I'm trying to get the .138/.079 in between brackets one way or another...

Also, it seems that when using linked dimensions the leading zero rules aren't obeyed.

Currently NX6.0.5.3 MP12 (and hating it...)
will be NX8.5.3.3 MP8 in a month or so

Thanks,
Ryan

RE: Linked Dual Dims

NX6 was released over 7 years ago, so a very long time as far as computer software goes.
It is possible to have different tolerance values in the inch tolerance and the mm tolerance as long as the convert tolerance value is unchecked is the units tab.
I seem to be having issues in NX7.5 with the leading zeros too, there is a possibility that it may be controlled in your customer defaults.

Jerry,

Completely agree! Can't wait till NX6 dies in my company. I'll let users get used to new functions before I throw the ribbon at em... maybe ~9 months time we can look at TC10/NX10.

I stumbled upon a clue to test with on the linked dual dims. Wanted to share it here to spark some thought. I haven't had a chance to play with it but it's a start.

adding the text about upper and lower below within the linked path will move where it appears, even in NX6.
<X00.3@drf_1> <T+<X0.3@Upper_Tolerance>!+<X0.3@Lower_Tolerance>>
