Separate Service Feeder to fire pump
Separate Service Feeder to fire pump
(OP)
Per Canadian Electrical Code, a separate service feeder ahead of the main building disconnect or a separate service directly from the utility transformer is required for the fire pump. Having said that I have seen many installations where the fire pump is fed from a branch lockable breaker from the service entrance board. I couldn't find anywhere or any code/regulation that accepts above practice. Can somebody shed some lights when and what instances above practice is acceptable? Thanks

CDA, the electric utility has no regulatory authority in this matter and if you are trusting the utility to ensure the fire pump is wired correctly, that is a gross error in judgement.
